The Municipality of Tirana has decided to send aid to the families affected by the earthquake in the district of Korça.
“Tomorrow, the electoral campaign will be suspended and one of the ideas that we have is that, instead of it, we will have a campaign of charity and solidarity.
“We will invite all Muslim believers, but not just those in front of the municipality and after Eid al-Fitr’s prayer, we will send an aid truck to the district of Korça where there has been a series of earthquakes which has mobilized the entire government, but I also believe they need the help of citizens,” said Veliaj.
During tomorrow’s prayer of Eid al-Fitr, the public parking lots of Tirana will be free of charge for all Muslim believers.
The news was announced by the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, who together with the chairman of the Albanian Muslim Community, Bujar Spahiu, inspected the construction of the Namazgah Mosque.
In respect of the holy day of Eid al-Fitr, Mayor Veliaj who runs for a second mandate on June 30th, said he will not be campaigning during that sacred day.
Mayor Veliaj emphasized that Tirana is the example of a city which respects all religions. Stating:
“I am convinced that the construction of the Namazgah Mosque will finish within the year, and Tirana will be equipped with another jewel.”
With his wishes to all believers, the Mayor of the Albania Muslim Community, Bujar Spahiu, said that by the end of this year, with the completion of construction, the mosaic of religious cultures will be completed in the capital.
Spahiu called for greater solidarity among people to help anyone in need.
