The Problems with the Tirana-Elbasan highway are not over. Beyond missing the deadlines for the completion of work, experts also raise concern about the maintenance of the road.
Road safety expert, Fatmir Hasho, has asked for rehabilitation of the areas of damaged asphalt.
According to the expert, another concern is the assigned speed limit for the road, which he considers inappropriate and dangerous for this type of road.
Hasho also seeks to take measures for people who set up makeshift stalls along the shoulders of the road as they provide an increased risk of accident.
The construction of the Tirana-Elbasan Highway commenced about 8 years ago. Since then the cost have the road has exceeded more than 200% of the projected budget, placing a large burden on state finances.
