Type C of the environmental permits have sparked a clash of words between the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, and the Minister of Environment, Blendi Klosi.

Just a day ago, Veliaj called for the decentralization of permits.

Klosi said on Friday that these permits should not exist as they have become a burden for many businesses.

Although he said he would not comment on his colleagues' statements on World Tourism Day, Klosi did not back away from taking jabs at those mayors who want to exploit the protected areas.

The Minister said that domestic competition should not serve to harm the development of tourism.

According to Klosi, this year, the number of tourists has increased by 10% while the forecast for next year shows a possibility of reaching 7.5 million tourists in Albania.
