Repairs in Bovilla

Repairs in Bovilla

Following the announcement by Tirana Water Supplier that there will be partial restrictions to water supply in some areas today, Tirana's Mayor, Erion Veliaj, has confirmed work has commenced to repair the damage at Bovilla Reservoir.

“We are doing some repairs at Bovilla, where damage has occurred to the main pipeline, first as a result of the earthquake, then by erosion and landslides.

“I hope that it will be repaired within day, so that we don't have any long term effects on water supply.

“We are monitoring Bovilla as heavy rain fell in a very short time, and this typically produces a kind of turbulence, which takes time to decant, for the water to be ready for filtration and not to block the carbon filters,” explained Veliaj.

Veliaj made this statement from Farka where he inspected the "Alush Bardhi" school. The first day of classes began with the explanation of the situation of earthquakes for children by social workers.

“I wanted myself to inspect that everything started normally.

“The teaching has begun and what I enjoyed the most is that, besides this school, kindergarten and nursery, by working until the early morning hours, in all 300 institutions of Tirana, repairs, cleanups and solutions to any other earthquake problems have been completed in record time. Not only that, but we have also faced the tremendous challenge of the heavy rains we had last night head on,” expressed Veliaj.

Meanwhile, the Municipality of Tirana will intervene to repair two feet of the Tërkuza bridge, where traffic will be temporarily blocked.

As a measure of recent events, the City Hall will again launch training programs for all search and rescue operations of students in schools on emergency measures.
