Former Albanian President, Alfred Moisiu, seeks a long-term solution to end cyclical political crises in the country.
Speaking at a press conference with media, civil society and business representatives, Moisiu said that political dialogue is needed to find this solution, and appealed to the parties to put the country's interests over those of the parties.
“We are worried not only about the situation that is currently occurring but also what will happen come July 1. Where will we go as country? Will we become a part of Europe?
“It is time for a dialogue between political actors to find a solution in the interest of Albania, rather than at its expense.
“It is time for a long-term solution to avoid cyclical crises. Violent actions against institutions have violated the image of Albania. Functional democracy can only be achieved with votes,” said Moisiu.
Moisiu added that encouraging hatred among Albanians for the personal interests of some political leaders is intolerable.
“It is intolerable to incite hatred among Albanians for the personal interests of some political leaders.
“The use of divisive expressions, denigrating rhetoric against rivals from each political party, and lack of dialogue between the main parties; all these have led to the violation of citizen’s security,” expressed Moisiu.
