A statement by the Greek Foreign Minister regarding the maritime agreement has caused strong reactions from Albanian politics.

Although he stood before the Foreign Commission just two days ago, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ditmir Bushati will be summoned again to a special hearing session, in order to provide greater transparency on what was agreed upon with Greece.

The opposition, as a unified voice of the DP and SMI, demanded transparency while flinging accusations, such as saying they expect nothing more than what was signed in 2009 which was then overthrown by the Constitutional Court.

"There is no transparency over the agreement," argued the SMI MP, Klajda Gjosha.

"No better deal will be reached than that of 2009," remarked the DP MP, Tritan Shehu.

Albanian Foreign Minister, Ditmir Bushati clarified on Tuesday evening that the deal will be more favorable than that achieved in 2009 and that it is based on the principles of the Convention on the Law of the Sea and the decision of the Constitutional Court.

Greek media have interpreted Kotzias' statement as being in favor of their state, even though there has been no consultation with the public.

The existence of an open discussion would allow for many questions to be answered and potentially, many doubts to be cast aside.
