Invitation for negotiations

Invitation for negotiations

After receiving the report of the European Commission, the majority have launched a political assault on the opposition over the image that they have created in European Union countries as a result of their continued protests.

Speaking from the parliamentary podium, Prime Minister Edi Rama reiterated allegations that the Democratic Party and the Socialist Movement for Integration lack the will to contribute to the path toward European integration.

Once again, he called for dialogue.

“The report also outlines what the opposition should be doing today, and there is no alignment with what it is actually doing.

“We remain determined to stimulate a dialogue process with the opposition, but under no circumstances are we willing to negotiate the terms of the Constitution.

“The purpose of the Constitution is to provide fundamental law that we are all forced to respect, and it includes that the elections belong to the people, not the parties.

“We have the willingness to dialogue but we never will negotiate the legitimacy and obligation for the continuation of this Parliament,” said Rama.

MPs of the New Opposition advised Rama that they intend to bring a new spirit to politics through their parliamentary presence.

For the former Foreign Minister, Ditmir Bushati, the European Commission report is an overview of how political parties must face and take on their responsibilities.

“The EC's recommendation shows that this is our moment. It gave an overview of the reforms undertaken.

“The report provides a clear picture of all achievements, but, on the other hand, shows an overview of what still needs to be achieved.

“It is time for a greater political understanding, as the European Albania requires a different level of standards,” expressed Bushati.

EU Ambassador, Luigi Soreca, submitted the positive recommendations of Brussels to the Parliamentary Speaker, Gramoz Ruçi, and then to the members of the Integration Commission.

The head of the EU Delegation also sent the report to the Democratic Party Chair, Lulzim Basha.
