Felaj-Sterkaj on robbery

After the robbery at Rinas Airport, the Chair of the Security Commission, Ermonela Felaj has demanded the revision of concession contracts, not only for the properties of particular importance, but also for other contracts.

Felaj says concessionary agreements are an additional problem in that they do not allowthe police to operate in important facilities even for the purpose of national security.

“It is time to review various agreements, not just in regards to the security of Rinas, but also for agreements signed before the year 2013 that relate to border crossing points.

“Concession agreements are problematic. They hinder the operation of private Police in facilities of particular importance.

Felaj said that a step is being taken by asking for the removal of the private police from objects of special importance, adding that this will be now done by the newly formed “Illyrian Guard”.

In recent days, the Albanian government has undertaken a legal initiative for removing private police from the preservation of objects of special importance by setting up the special structure of the “Illyrian Guard”.

When asked about the meeting of the National Security Council, Felaj said that this is a competence of the President.

She urged the authorities to find all those responsible for this event while requesting an investigation by the Serious Crimes Prosecution.

Socialist MP, Paulin Sterkaj was also fiercely concerned about security at Rinas Airport.

“Money gone, people killed. Now, whose fault is? We have voted for a General Prosecutor, so why do we not have any authority?

“All those who break the law are a step ahead in their strategies of undertaking such robberies.

“The problems of money movement should be investigated in more depth,” said Paulin Sterkaj.

Sterkaj also had a call to the prosecution.

“Even this investigation should be more in depth.

“I appeal to the concessionaire operating at the airport to ensure the territory in which they operate at Rinas, and not to allow criminals to enter as they did yesterday, because there are consequences,” concluded SP MP Sterkaj.
