Death In Kavalishencë

Death In Kavalishencë

The November 26th earthquake killed 51 citizens due to, in part, the collapse of their homes.

The most affected areas were the dwellings built during the communist era in Thumanë and the buildings after the 1990s in Durrës.

One of the victims is also Chief Commissioner, Bajram Hajdarmataj, who was found dead in the rubble of his Kavalishence holiday home

The 54-year-old was in Durrës undergoing a training program but was not alerted of the potential dangers that risked the security of the building. A position that the majority denies.

But Ora News obtained a document signed by the inspection team of 4 engineers, which clearly states that the "New Hotel of this Durrës Vacation Home"-- referring to building number 4, does not contain damage to its existing structure, but it is currently under surveillance as pieces of brick and plaster can break away and cause severe injuries.

According to this document, after the September 21st earthquake, the facility needed immediate reconstruction: Information that was already communicated to the director of the facility.

Unfortunately, the inspection team's concern, which was ignored in due-time, took the life of the Chief Commissioner because part of the building collapsed due to a second earthquake on November 26th.

But in building number 5, on the night of November 26th, there were also “police academy students and coaches” who were present and fortunately did not suffer any injuries.

Due to this situation and the question raised in this case, the Democratic Party requested official information from the Albanian government regarding the “verifications carried out in Building No. 4 of the Resting House of the Ministry of Interior in Kavalishencë of Durrës”, which was destroyed by the recent earthquake and subsequently took the life of the Chief Commissioner, Bajram Hajdarmataj.
