Albania now has more than 1,500 people aged between 1 and 18 years affected by the disease.
On the global day for diabetics it turns out that in Albania there are 75 thousand affected, with the number increasing by 5 thousand new patients every year.
Realizing that Diabetes is on the rise is already scary enough; it has been observed in Albania that, more concerningly, this disease is not sparing young people.
According to the Chairman of the Diabetes Association, Florian Toti, 1 in every 500 people aged between one and 18 years are inflicted with the illness.
Every year in Albania, about 5,000 people are diagnosed with Diabetes, and in total, the number of people diagnosed has risen to 75,000 patients and the real number is expected to be higher, given the rate of under diagnosis.
On World Diabetes Day, diabetics associations urge the government to decide on providing subsidies for the use of blood sugar tools in order to ease the financial burden on inflicted persons.
