Zana Harizaj was 61 year old when she began her battle with breast cancer. She had often heard about the disease but had never undergone a medical examination.
However for the past 5 years she could often found in the Oncology Hospital at the University Hospital Center, where she has undergone intensive treatment. Coping with the disease has not been easy.
In the absence of spouses and children due to emigration, she has been left to fight it alone and expected to do so quietly.
The ongoing battle has not defeated her smile, though her fear for her life has not yet passed.
She invites all women and girls to become more aware and to take care of their health.
