Balluku Holds Compensation Hostage

Unjustified delays in the allocation of funds for land affected by the construction of the Fier Bypass, and the lack of a response from the Ministry of Infrastructure led by Belinda Balluku, has again risen the residents of Levani to protest.

In a sign of revolt against the waiting and negligence, they today blocked the work of constructioneers.

They seeking the money owed to them for their land. According to them, the decision for compensation was approved by the Council of Ministers, but has since been blocked by the Ministry of Infrastructure!

“We hope that, one day, The State actually becomes a STATE,” declared one resident.

Residents say they have prepared the documents several times, having them officialized every time and addressed to every relevant institution, but their plight continues to fall on deaf ears.

“Just for the expropriations, I come at least 10 times to resubmit the documents, but still no official response has come,” explained another resident.

The lack of alternative roadways allowing residents to access their land is another cause of concern for these residents.

Levani residents reiterated that they are not against the construction of the Bypass, but the lack of accountability shown by the Ministry of Infrastructure and other institutions, who they see as forcing them to protest in order to receive their rights.
