43% of Youth Want To Leave

About 43% of young Albanians have expressed a desire to leave the country in a study conducted by the “Friedrich Ebert Foundation” noting that the demand for a higher standard of living being the main reason for emigration.

Most of those reporting the strongest desire to emigrate live in the North of the country, Germany being their favorite destination.

In terms of education, 54% of interviewed youth have confirmed observing the phenomenon of corruption in universities. More than half said they had difficulty finding jobs after completing their studies.

They are optimistic about Albania's European Union integration and justice reform, but are skeptical that such reforms will actually bring high-profile politicians to be held accountable.
