Vetting continues, judge Ilir Toska cleared

Tirana's Appellate Court Judge and candidate for the Supreme Judicial Council, Ilir Toska has successfully passed the vetting process.

The decision was handed down today by the Independent Qualification Commission with a panel composed of Etleda Çiftja, Xhensila Pine and Valbona Sanxhaktari.

The Relator, Valbona Sanxhaktari, said yesterday that there were no concerns regarding Mr Toska's wealth verifications.

"The High Inspectorate of the Declaration and Audit of Assets and Conflict of Interest has submitted an approving report on Toska's wealth.

"From the independent and in-depth investigation of the commission, it has been concluded that after verification, the subject own only one 83m2 apartment in Tirana which is valued at approximately 50 thousand Euros.

"There is no evidence to suggest that Ilir Toska has any hidden wealth," reiterated Valbona Sanxhaktari.

The final decision differsfrom the Classified Information Security Directorate, which declared him inappropriate.

Based on their independent verifications, the Commission came to the conclusion that there was no evidence to support such claims regarding Ilir Toska.
