Health budget, about 74 billion lek including social protection

For the health and social protection sector, the government predicts a budget of nearly 74 billion lek. Democrats in the Parliamentary Committee for health voted against the budget with the argument that it is insufficient to make investments and serve the citizens.

Minister ManastirLIU said investments will be made in 80 health centers, hospitals and a further 1.8 billion lek will be used to provide statistics. The government predicts a budget of nearly 74 billion lek for health, an increase of 5% compared to the previous year, taking into consideration the transfer of competencies for social protection.

Minister Ogerta ManastirLIU said in the parliamentary health commission that she predicts about 3 billion lek in hospital investments and a 5% increase to staff salaries for 2018. "The budget for health will finance 49 billion, 294 million lek for 2018 , while for social protection 23 billion, 785 million lek will be provided." - said Minister of Health, Ogerta ManastirLIU.

But the Democrats voted against this budget draft.

"In order to have free healthcare, the expenses should be at least € 2,000 per person and we have only 85 Euros per person" - declared DP MP, Tritan Shehu. 2 billion lek of the budget is predicted only for the former politically persecuted and the reconstruction of 80 health centers.
