Green light given: "We both held up our agreement"

"Urime!", meaning congratulations. With this word, the chief of the European Union's diplomacy, Federica addressed the Albanian people, saying that the giving of the recommendation for negotiations is the result of a collaborative effort.

Albania kept its promise to deliver justice reform and the European Union returned the favor by holding up their same.

"You kept your word regarding justice reform and the EU is keeping its word on negotiations," said Federica Mogherini.

Albania also received congratulations on foreign policy, which matches 100% with that of the European Union.

"Congratulations on your foreign policy which is 100% compatible with the EU," said Federica Mogherini.

With the greatest thanks to Mogherini, Prime Minister Edi Rama said Albania received what we deserved, but he added that there is no time to celebrate, as work must begin now to progress towards actual membership.

"We passed a difficult test, but this is not the time to celebrate. We have to start work immediately to receive our 'diploma' - that is, to receive membership into the EU," said Edi Rama.

Now that the recommendation has been received, there are new hurdles to overcome, especially because not all member countries support Albania.

For this, Rama said that we are prepared to hear many weird things, but suggested the opposition should avoid collaborating with those against Albania and work with the government as a united team under the flag of Albania.

"Not everyone wants us, I invite the opposition to work as a team." said Edi Rama.

The Prime Minister said Merkel and Macron also support the enlargement, but there are individuals in Germany and France who do not want Albania. In any case, the government will overcome this obstacle.

"We will overcome the obstacles of countries that do not want us." said Edi Rama.

When asked about the 'Tahiri' case, Rama said the Socialists acted on the recommendation of the Venice Commission, however, they still expect at least one single piece of evidence to be presented by the prosecution before a vote is held again in the Assembly.

"We await evidence from the Prosecution for the Tahiri case," said Edi Rama.

Rama said he agrees with opposition leader, Lulzim Basha that the opening of negotiations increases the pressure on the government to perform better on key issues, while Mogherini closed her speech with this message.

"The green light has flicked on, so now it's time to start the race."
