Albania is at the peak of a flu epidemic and the situation is being reflected in pediatric wards across the country.

At least 10 children are lying in the Pediatric of Elbasan each day, with around 200 other patients arriving on a day to day basis in seek of medical assistance.

Head of Pediatrics, Dr. Irena Palloshi, spoke of an increase in the number cases early this month, but notes an artificial flux due to avoidance of the family doctor.

"Avoiding the family doctor creates an influx for regional hospitals," clarified Palloshi.

The pediatricians had clear advice for all parents, stating:

"Do not neglect to seek medical treatment,"

A similar influx has been noted in regional hospitals across the country as the aforementioned in Elbasan.
