Blood donation, municipal police join action

After the staff of the Municipality of Tirana, the municipal police officers responded to the call of the President of the Republic, Ilir Meta, to donate blood to all those in need.

The initiative was also welcomed by the Tirana Mayor, Erion Veliaj, who stressed that the Municipality of Tirana is always the first in any noble initiative and today's day is a sincere test of engagement in the service of the citizen.

"I am very proud of all of the Municipal Police colleagues. The Municipality of Tirana is always the first in any noble initiative to make a tangible contribution to the citizens.

"The Municipal Police has responded to the call of the President of the Republic, as it responds to the call of every citizen who needs the Municipal Police.

"These employees make one of the most difficult, most delicate jobs, one that requires a lot of nerves and patience.

"For an institution that is so much in the attention of the public, I believe that donating blood to thalassemia children is the most sincere proof of this commitment," said Erion Veliaj.

Veliaj demanded that the example of the Municipality of Tirana be followed by other municipalities in the country, as well as urging citizens to join the initiative of the President.

"I use this opportunity to appeal not only to municipal police and other municipalities, but any institution out of Tirana to knock on the door of the Red Cross, to be part of this alliance.

"As people return from holidays, for the physical regeneration of the body, blood donation is a cause that helps not only the one who is receiving the donated blood but also the one who donates it.

"Therefore, I urge the citizens to join the alliance announced by the President for blood donation, because it is probably the best chance that ten minutes and a few milliliters of blood can save a life that tomorrow may change the reality in this country," said Erion Veliaj.

Tirana Municipal Police Chief Inspector, Ermal Kapllani, expressed the will of the staff of this institution to donate blood and came to the aid of all those in need.
